Xiaomi Mi 8 bootloader unlocking
Before you begin, you must first unlock the bootloader of your Xiaomi Mi 8. If you have already done so, you can proceed directly to the next step. Otherwise, you can do it by going to the tutorial to unlock the Xiaomi Mi 8 bootloader.
Install the TWRP Recovery on the Xiaomi Mi 8
Download the image file from the TWRP recovery and transfer it to the folder : C:/adb de ADB / fastboot.
Turn off your Mi 8 Xiaomi completely.
Press the low Volume and Power buttons simultaneously to start in the Fastboot menu.
Connect the smartphone to your PC using the USB cable.
Go to C:/adb on your PC, where you copied the image file from the TWRP. Right click + Shift in an empty space of the folder and select “Open a PowerShell window here”.
Enter the following commands to install the TWRP recovery on your Xiaomi Mi 8: fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.3.0.-dipper.img
Now it is important to start in the TWRP before starting in the OS of your Xiaomi Mi 8. Use the following command :
fast boot boot twrp-3.2.3.0.-dipper.img
Your smartphone should reboot in the TWRP. Follow the instructions below to root your Xiaomi Mi 8 using Magick!
Root the Xiaomi Mi 8
In the TWRP menu press “Keep Read Only” button to prevent system changes.
Then go to “Wipe” – > “Dat Format”’. Press ” yes ” to confirm that the data has been erased. This will erase all the data on your Mi 8.
Return to the main menu of TWRP and press “Reboot” then “Recovery”.
Then download the file ” Forced Encryption Disabler and Magick Install zip.
Connect your Mi 8 to your PC using the USB cable.
In the TWRP, go to “Mount” and press “Enable MTP”.
Copy the downloaded files to your smartphone’s internal memory.
Press “Install” and select “Disable_Dm-Verity_FEC_v1″.1.zip.” Make a slide to confirm installation.
Now that encryption is disabled, you can use Magisk to root your Mi 8.
Go back to the main menu of the TWRP then press “Install” and select this time the file “Magisk-v17.1.zip.”
Do a swipe to confirm the installation of root on your Xiaomi Mi 8.
Once the installation is complete, press “Reboot System” and let the smartphone restart.
After restarting, configure it as for the first time. You should now see Magick Manager among your applications. You should now have full root access on your Xiaomi Mi 8.
